Joanna Das, assistant professor of dance at Washington University in St. Louis, will discuss Katherine Dunham’s legacy of using dance as a medium for activism. Performances by Keith Williams, a Dunham-trained choreographer whose work reflects his focus on social justice, and the Dunham Children’s Workshop, led by Ruby Streate, will follow. Be sure to stick around after the performances for a group Q&A with Das, Williams, Streate, and one of the young dancers!
